Academy News Four Stars
Congrats to our school for receiving four stars for the eighth year in a row with “Texas Rising Star”!! THANK YOU TEACHERS, Great job! Anything is possible when you reach for the stars!
the pumpkin patch The older two’s all the way through Pre Kinder classes went to the pumpkin patch in October. The children had a wonderful time listening to a story and picking out pumpkins. We would like to thank all of the parent chaperones who went on the trip with us. We would also like to give a huge THANK YOU to Mr. Roberts and family for driving all of the children to and from the patch in the vans. The field trip would not have happened without you kindness.
Outdoor Play The playgrounds will soon be ready to be used just in time for the cooler weather. Please make sure your children a wearing the appropriate attire and closed toed shoes. The playground had been off limits during the summer months due to the high heat index then the rain and mosquitoes became the problem. Now the grounds have been cleaned up and are ready for the children to use.
Thanksgiving Feast This year we will be having our annual Thanksgiving Feast in the classrooms. The Feast will be on Friday November 21st at lunch time. Parents are welcome to come eat lunch with the older children on this day. A letter with more information will be sent out closer to the day.
Staff Changes You may have noticed some changes in the teaching staff. We have recently hired some new teachers and aids. Please help make them feel welcome. We have also had a few teachers change classrooms. All of the changes made have the children’s best interests in mind. Thank you for being open to the changes.

We believe all children are a gift from God. St. B's is a safe, secure, Christian environment where children feel loved, respected, and valued for their individuality. In 1973, a Mother’s Day Out program was started. It has evolved into what is now St. Bartholomew’s Academy, licensed by the state in 1994. It is a successful full-time child care and pre-kindergarten program, serving not only parishioners but also the greater Coastal Bend community.

Parenting Tips
Always be consistent: say what you mean and mean what you say
· Consistency means that you do the same thing time after time and that you follow through with what you say. Never state a consequence that you are not going to follow through with · All children test rules. They will do what you tell them not to do just to see what will happen. This is how they learn. · Children learn more from what we do than from what we say. · When you set a rule and do not follow through with the consequence, they learn that what you said is not really important. · For example, if the rule is “No hitting or you go to time out,” you must send them to time out every time they hit. If you don’t, they learn it is okay to hit sometimes · Children learn to follow our rules when we do what we say we are going to do. It is okay to give one, sometimes two, warnings but then you must take action.
Be prepared to follow-through. It is normal for children to “push your buttons”. Don’t back down once you have set a rule or expectation for them. |
