Welcoming our Visitors
I am writing to ask everyone’s help to make sure that anyone coming to our church feels welcome. I know we already do this but I would like us to go a step further and have greeters in the parking lot, outside the education building, the street out in front of the church and the parish hall. We are not in our usual place of worship and it is important for new people to know they are welcome and where they need to go. We can have 16 teams of 4 and if everyone that can is willing to do this, your turn might be every 16 weeks. It would consist of being at the designated places about 15 minutes before the 9:00 and 11:15 services. All you need is a smile and willingness to help out.
Please let me know as soon as possible because we are growing and we want to make sure no one leaves because we were not there to guide them to where we are having our services.

Musicians and Singers for 11:15 a.m. Service
Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. musicians and singers meet to rehearse for the 11:15 a.m. worship service. Anyone is welcome to join us and we are looking for new musicians to join with the current ones, especially guitarists, drummers, and singers. All you need to do is show up for practice in the church. Practice lasts about an hour.

New Ministry: Queen Bees
During rally day many women asked “why don’t we have an active group such as the Bubba B’s?” Well there was a general discussion and we decided to form the Queen Bees. Actually we were not prepared for the overwhelming response this received. Over 50 women signed the sign-in sheet.
Several of the women discussed what our mission should be. It was recommended that our mission be to grow spiritually through prayer, study, fellowship and community service. The membership is all inclusive of the women of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.
The Queen Bees will meet Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11:00 AM (not 10) in the Parish Hall. All women of the church are encouraged to attend (it’s OK to come in your work clothes after working on the playgrounds).

Bubba Bees’ Buzz
Service organizations through whom the Bubba's provide support to the community include the Women's Shelter of South Texas, Salvation Army, and Timmons Ministries.
The Salvation Army Canteen Truck
November 23th - Team Three
There are now five teams sharing this ministry. Volunteers from the church are asked to help make sandwiches, and prepare the meals. We will want to have a BIG supply of new socks to hand out, so please remember to bring them each Sunday and put them in the Sock Box in the Parish Hall. Other welcome items: blankets and other personal care items (toothbrushes, and paste, soap, etc.) |
Boy Scout Troop 220
Troop 220 was chartered to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church on October 1, 1965 making it the oldest continuing outreach program the church has. Currently the program has 450 months of continuous service to youth ages 11 to 18. It has produced 60 Eagle Scouts, which is the highest honor a boy can achieve. Nationally, only 4% achieve this honor. The first Scoutmaster was C. E. Williams, since then there have been 10 different leaders. The current Scoutmaster is Dennis McCannon, who took over in 1983. On February 28, 2001 they formed a Crew which is open to all youth ages 14 to 21, both male and female.
They presently meet on Monday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The Crew meets from 8:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the Scout Hut. |

Please call the church office whenever you would like to have someone placed on the prayer list for the bulletins. We will keep the prayers for the sick on the list for one month unless you call to renew the request. Please let us know if you wish to remove the name before that. |
